PRAIA DA VIEIRA (PORTUGAL)

PRAIA DA VIEIRA
 N 39º 52' 30''; W 8º 57' 54''

Praia de Vieira is a location in the Portuguese Parish (Freguesia) of Vieira de Leiria, in the district of Leiria, and within the Municipality of Marinha Grande.
The place is known for its sandy beach. The River Lis flows into its northern section, and bird watching is possible here.
Fishing was traditionally of great importance for the place, but is now only operated as a sideline. A monument erected in 1992 reminds us of the history of fishing and its importance for Praia de Vieira. There are also replicas of the traditional, colorfully striped wooden houses on the beach.
The local church, Igreja da Praia de Vieira, lined with black wood, is a listed building.
In addition to retail and banking establishments, the site also features hotel and catering businesses, as well as an adventure pool (Parque Aquático).
