Castanheira de Pera is a Portuguese village in the district of Leiria, in the province of Beira Litoral, integrating the Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Leiria, in the Center of Portugal, with about 1 300 inhabitants.
It is the seat of the small municipality of Castanheira de Pera with an area of 66.78 km² and 3,191 inhabitants (2011). The municipality is limited to the northeast by the municipality of Góis, to the southeast by Pedrógão Grande, to the west by Figueiró dos Vinhos and to the northwest by Lousã. The municipality was created in 1914, previously belonging to Pedrógão Grande. It is about 74 km from the city of Leiria, its district capital, 57 km from the city of Coimbra, and 104 km from the city of Castelo Branco.
Castanheira de Pera is one of the six municipalities in Portugal that have only one parish, which corresponds to the entire territory of the municipality (Union of the Parishes of Castanheira de Pera and Coentral).
