Marinha Grande is a Portuguese city in the district of Leiria, in the province of Estremadura, integrating the Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Leiria, in the region of Central Portugal, with approximately 10,500 inhabitants.
It is the seat of a municipality with an area of ​​187.25 km² and 38 681 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 3 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north and east by the municipality of Leiria, to the south by Alcobaça and to the west, it has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.

Economy
Marinha Grande's economy is mainly based on the secondary sector (industry).
The historical context of the city is based on Indústria Vidreira, which was the main financial driver of the municipality and continues to be one of the main ones, with the existence of several factories for the production of glass objects, such as bottles, glasses and decoration pieces.
In the last 50 years, the plastic mold industry began to develop in the city, developing the city a lot. Nowadays, Marinha Grande has hundreds of companies that support the manufacture of molds and the production of plastics, which initially were mainly for the automotive sector, but currently come out of Marinha Grande plastics for all applications.
Although Marinha Grande is sought for bathing tourism in summer, the tertiary sector (which includes tourism) does not represent an economic benchmark compared to the industry.
